Dear Parents and Students,
We hope you are safe and healthy, and finding some rest and relaxation this summer. As we are approaching the start of the 2020-21 school year, we want to share some important new information with you about health and safety protocols in our school (and all schools in general) for the upcoming school year.
All schools are preparing for blended learning, during which students learn in-person in school buildings for part of the week, and continue learning remotely from home on the other days. However, any family can choose 100% remote learning for any reason. If your preference is 100% remote learning, we ask that you let us know by this Friday, August 7, so that schools have enough time to plan.

As announced this evening in a press conference, the Mayor has closed all NYCDOE schools due to the COVID 19 virus until April 20th. I am learning of this like many of you through the press conference and the information provided on the NYCDOE website. Below I will include the guidance that the DOE has provided and will continue to update our community of the latest news when I become aware.
The best way we can care for each other right now is to practice socially distancing. We are all concerned about those members of our community who are most dependent on our schools for support and services, and we are working diligently to obtain information about how we can best support our community members.
Also, because the city’s guidance is changing minute to minute, please stay tuned for any developments. Please feel free to contact me directly if you have any question.

Tonight’s NYCDOE Announcement:
Monday, March 16, 2020
Tomorrow, March 16, there will be a one-day full system closure, however breakfast and lunch will be available at every building through Grab-and-Go meals.
From Tuesday through Thursday, teachers and administrators will participate in professional development on remote learning, and students will begin picking up materials for continued instruction. Grab-and-Go meals will be available for students at all schools until further notice.
The schedule, as we move to remote learning, is as follows:
- Monday, March 16: Citywide closure. Students, teachers, and principals do not report.
- Tuesday, March 17: Thursday, March 19: All staff reports. Teachers and principals participate in professional development on remote learning.
- Thursday, March 19-Friday, March 20: Students who need it will be able to begin process of picking up the technology necessary for remote learning. More guidance to families will be sent this week.
- Monday, March 23: Remote learning launches, with additional guidance provided throughout the week of the 23.

Effective Monday, March 23, Regional Enrichment Centers will be available for the children of first responders, healthcare workers, and our most vulnerable populations, with more details to follow. Additionally, remote learning will go into effect for grades K-12. DOE will support schools at all levels of readiness to deliver remote learning, and more information will be provided to families about online platforms.
