Academics

Students at UAMA take a rigorous college-preparatory program of courses in a variety of academic fields. In four years, students will earn enough credits to graduate, take New York State Regents exams, and also prepare themselves for college-level work.

UAMA was founded on the belief that the artistic process can enhance understanding of all academic subjects, and spark students’ interest in learning. Class projects incorporate visual and performance components, and trips to cultural institutions supplement in-school learning.

Teachers are held accountable for rigorous curriculum development and lesson-planning. They assess student engagement and understanding constantly through questioning, class work, homework, projects, essays, and tests.
